Someone bought me some logs of Elm that had been felled in their garden. Planked and left for a few years resulted in this box with a lovely deep colour and figure.

This walnut Box was constructed from well air-dried plank chosen for its lovely close grain, colour and interesting figure. In places it has a translucent effect and a 'ripple' across the direction of grain.

A short Oak board had been in the corner of the workshop for years. On picking it up one day I felt its considerable weight for its size. The result was a beautiful box showing off the figure of the wood, the top lipped with ebony.
